Airific Car Cabin Filter review: Drive in some pure air
On March 21, 2022 by AjayAs I gaze out of my Noida apartment window nowadays, the sky appears remarkably clear. There’s no longer a blanket of gray smog or dust lingering in the air. The winter is gradually giving way to the emerging Indian summer, and despite the rising temperatures, there’s a sense of joy in the knowledge that the air is now noticeably cleaner. However, it’s when my air purifier activates automatically according to its schedule that I’m reminded that the air quality is still not as ideal as it should be—or as it is in certain other parts of our country.
As we resume our daily commute routine, spending more than two hours each day traveling to and from work in the metro cities, it’s easy to overlook the level of pollution we are exposed to during these journeys. This realization prompted me to try out the Airific Car Cabin Filter from Nirvana Being. While I have tested car air purifiers in the past, this experience was a first for me.
The installation of the Airific Car Cabin Filter can be done independently if you’re confident enough to open the glove compartment or locate your AC filter. However, I opted for some assistance. Although the process was straightforward, I could have managed it on my own. Within a few minutes, the new filter was securely in place, and I was confronted with the rather unsightly state of my four-year-old AC filter—a stark contrast.
Equipped with a portable air quality monitor in the car, I set out on the first drive with the windows down, only to find the monitor registering over 160 on PM2.5. Frankly, I hadn’t anticipated such high readings in the middle of March; these are figures we typically associate with Diwali in the NCR region, not Holi.
Undeterred, I rolled up the windows, switched on the AC, and drove to a nearby market for some quick shopping. After a seven-minute drive, the reading had dropped to 50, marked by a green indicator, which is considered good for human health. Encouraged by this improvement, I drove back home, a journey lasting over 25 minutes. Upon arrival, the reading had further decreased to 25, and I could perceptibly sense the cleaner air.
As the temperatures continued to rise in North India over the past week, I found myself frequently turning on the AC. Given the initial PM2.5 readings exceeding 160, I was no longer inclined to keep the windows down during drives. A few minutes into each journey, the AQI monitor consistently displayed levels below 50, and the longer the drive, the better the air quality.
For those concerned about AQI or traveling frequently with children, the Airific Car Cabin Filter offers an affordable means to attain peace of mind and breathe cleaner air. Priced at around Rs 1,500, depending on the car model, and with a lifespan of up to six months, it represents a reasonable investment for those seeking the luxury of breathing pure air.
